These patients have undergone microtia reconstruction by Dr. Jabbour at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. These ears are made of their own cartilage, can sense touch, and now provide a symmetric balance to the other ear. They all have space behind their ears to accommodate glasses and to create a symmetric projection with the other side. Some of these patients have chosen to have aural atresiaplasty (making of an ear canal and ear drum). Others have chosen to have a magnetic Bone Anchored Hearing Aid (BAHA attract). The BAHA magnet is not visible under the skin. For more on these two hearing options, please visit the RoadMap page.
